Edit column
All your data is sorted into a grid of columns and rows. Not only you can edit the data in the grid, but you can also change the properties of the grid itself such as the type of data in each column and the names of columns.
Editing data is impossible for charts with the auto-update option turned on.
Change column name
-
Open the chart you want to edit.
-
In the upper-right corner, click EDIT.
-
In the bottom-right corner, click DATA.
-
Double-click on the column header or next to the column name click the more icon
and then click Edit column.
-
Click the Column field to edit the name.
-
Click SAVE.
Set column default value
In addition to importing data, Charts allows you to manually enter data as well. This can become quite strenuous, especially when dealing with larger datasets or identical values. When dealing with identical values, Default value comes in handy. Here's how to avoid adding the same value multiple times.
Set default value for new columns
-
Open the chart you want to edit.
-
In the upper-right corner, click EDIT.
-
In the bottom-right corner, click DATA.
-
Go to the last column.
-
Next to the last column click the Create column icon add.
-
In the Default value field, enter the value you want to be added to all new rows in that column.
The default value will be added to all the rows in the new column.
Set default value for existing columns
When setting default values for existing columns, bear in mind that the default value will be added only to the rows you add after you set the default value. All rows you added before setting the default value, even if blank, will remain unchanged.
-
Open the chart you want to edit.
-
In the upper-right corner, click EDIT.
-
In the bottom-right corner, click DATA.
-
Double-click on the column header or next to the column name click the more icon
and then click Edit column.
-
In the Default value field, enter the value you want to be added to all new rows in that column.
Set column data type
There are three types of data you can set for each column of the data: Text, Number, and Date.
Set column data type in Chart wizard
After uploading data, Charts will identify the data type for all columns in the dataset, but you can change column data type during data review.
-
Below the column name, click
to access the dropdown menu.
-
Choose the data type you want to assign to that column.
Set column data type in data grid
-
Open the chart you want to edit.
-
In the upper-right corner, click EDIT.
-
In the bottom-right corner, click DATA.
-
Double-click on the column header or next to the column name click the more icon
and then click Edit column.
-
